Season debut: Confronting Mr Fitzgerald

Dearest Journal, I decided to speak to Mr Fitzgerald about what I had found out since my reputation is on the line now too. He said that he was a silly young boy when he went to his first Lady and didn’t take the correct precautions, Mr Fitzgerald and his family only found out about his daughter a year ago when her mother turned up at their home, the Girls Mother is sick and not long for this world and they all want to do the right thing by her and not see that little girl put into an orphanage when she leaves this earth behind.

The other rumours Mr Fitzgerald has assured me stem from this unfortunate accident, however, without people knowing the truth they are all running with whatever their imaginations can come up with. I have a lot to think about, knowing the full truth I am conflicted. He has been truthful to me , as far as I can tell, do I let his misfortune stifle what we feel and ruin my reputation. All for the sake of young love and a little girl that did not come from our union? Or do I turn my back and keep my reputation pristine, be presented in front of the prince regent and live a lie that my mother wants?
