Season Debut: Papa was told

Dearest journal, Papa came home the other day. It was an emotional homecoming for all of us. Father was only away for two months this time. I have a sneaking suspicion about why he is home so early. I will not say anything about it until he does. I have not had a lot of free time to be able to walk into town and meet George. George and I need to discuss whether we want to continue down this route and possibly commit to getting married. Once that has been achieved, Mama has no opinion about who I marry. Mama and Papa may kick me out if we go down that road, which means I will be left with nothing if that happens.

[2 days later] Papa cornered me today to ask if I am pursuing George Fitzgerald as a suitor match. I was honest with Father. Father said that if I wanted to keep meeting him and seeing what blossoms. Then I can. However, I was reminded that whilst my father is also a merchant, we live very different lives to a dressmaker's son. My parents were arguing long into the night as I think they differ in their opinions of the path they want me to pursue.
