Season Debut: Search for the Perfect Dress

Dearest Journal, Mama took me out shopping for my Debut dress. We Visited Madame Fitzgerald's. This is where all the ladies take their daughters for their seasonal looks. They told me that I was proportioned too small for their dresses and they would look simply ghastly, which I do not want as I do not want to be cast aside by some of the gentlemen I would like to have as my intended. I saw young Mr Fitzgerald when I came over all lightheaded; is this the first sign of an attraction?

He is three years older than me. I do not believe Mr Fitzgerald would ever see me as a romantic interest. Mama and Papa would never allow the engagement as he is the son of a dressmaker and a Merchant. Mama would say that he is below our class and that I should marry within my class. Everyone they have said I am allowed to associate myself with are just pompous asses (I will get into trouble if Mama ever sees this)

I found 3 dresses that I love but we need to send them to get taken in and altered, I hope that Mama does not make me wear the one she wants to keep super long, I will certainly fall on my face in front of everyone and humiliate myself into spinsterhood.
